Well the Maggies did win as expected and so I ended up with a better than expected 5-1 result, and thanks to me jagging a zero points variance this round I managed to make it into the top six. The top person stands alone on 74 points, then another on 73, and three more on 72. I am at the top of the pack of 71, enough to get me 6th spot. There are three others below me on 71 but with higher points variances. So I am literally clinging onto that 6th spot. I really need to get a little more established in the top six before The Three Weeks, I have just two rounds to do it in, each consisting of six matches.
Fortunately the Weavils have a bye next round!! haha!! The first match won't be easy to pick, Carlton against the Hawks. I reckon the Bombers/Suns match will be a bit hard to pick also, the Suns are playing so much better.... anyway I won't jump too far ahead at this stage.... but the next two rounds will possibly decide my fate for this season.

Round 11 - ahhhh those Weavils
Those Weavils has got to be the most unpredictable team in the whole bloody comp. Just as I thought would happen the Saints held the upper hand for most of the match only to have those Weavils snatch victory from what appeared to be a certain defeat!! Well it happened that I did make the rash decision of picking the Weavils and on this extremely rare occasion the decision actually paid off! So my slender chance of getting into the top six before The Three Weeks remains alive. We just need for the Maggies to beat the Demons tomorrow, what even Maggie haters would concede to be a forgone conclusion. However as per the lessons originally taught by mother, there is no such creature in football as a "certainty", you will not find it in any football code books, not even in the sports section of Wikipedia!! And knowing my luck the Maggies will probably put in a shocker and the Demons would end up bloody winning!! However probably theory dictates that this is unlikely and so I should get my better than expected result of 5-1 for this round giving me still a slender chance of making it into the top six before The Three Weeks. Definitely not counting my chickens yet. Of course we will all be at work tomorrow here in the west, no holiday here, we had our turn last Monday. No more holiday weekends here until October.

Round 11 - Goodbye Top Six
Well I knew the Skippy/Suns game will be the danger game and it proved to be so, the Suns did indeed win, which was not a surprise, it was one of those matches that could have gone either way, and well in hindsight it should have been apparent that it was about time the Suns had a win - but as they say, hindsight is a good teacher but it doesn't come with a Tardis.
This is almost certain to be the nail in my top six coffin. The Weavils always manages to bring me undone regardless of whether I pick them or not. I suppose with the Saints not doing so well lately the Weavils are probably slight favorites, but they are so unpredictable. I guess the only thing is that they seem to play better AWAY from Pattersons, they seem to win more away games than home games. Therefore logic states that the Weavils should win, but when it comes to them Weavils logic tends to go out the window. So whoever I decided to pick it is sure to be the opposite to how it will turn out. So I will lose a 2nd point.
The Maggies should beat the Demons on Monday unless they get abducted by aliens and send a hybrid team onto the field.... and well there was a recent case where the Maggies lost unexpectedly and I put forth that theory!!! However I give 80% chance the Maggies should win. Therefore I expect to come away from this round with a 4-2 result. This will make it almost impossible for me to get into the top six before "The Three Weeks" therefore this year seems destined to be the 2nd consecutive year without any prizes since mother's death. So from now on I will just go with the experts, or in Weavils matches with the TAB odds.

Round 11 A Perfect Start
uhhh silly me forgot to write my football musings for today's matches..... very scatterbrained.... must be the New Moon, it is New Moon day and I always feel worst, dimwitted, scatterbrained, etc during New Moons.... and also Neptune started its retrograde, I'll explain that on my mid-week musings.... anyway here I am now, better late than never....
Well I am pleased that the Bombers came to the party for me. Not only they won, but the winning margin was 5 points, and I picked 5 points as my nominated variance!! So a perfect start, one point and a points variance increase of zero!!!! Now just have to pick the other 5 matches, and with one involving the Weavils I don't like my chances, cos whether I pick the Weavils or not, they always do the opposite and I lost that point!!!!
Anyway, one match is completed, and the Puddy Cats won as expected although for a little while the Giants were way in front and it looked like an upset was on the way. But Geelong really hit their straps and won as expect.
The 2nd match is in progress, and unless Sydney suddenly get abducted by aliens or they fall through a wormhole and end up in a parallel, they should win as being at 3rd quarter time they are some 93 points ahead of the hapless Crows. So another point for me. 3-0 so far.
The last match, yet to begin, Kangaroos against Gold Coast in Sun's territory. That one is expected to be close, well I think so anyway. Though I pick the Kangaroos the Suns are capable of winning if they play well and a few things goes their way. Nevertheless am hopeful for a Skippy win.

Round 11 Its gonna be tough!!
Well first of all I was slightly incorrect in regards to this round. It is not a split round but the first of three shortened rounds each with just six matches each. So now with the cursed "The Three Weeks" coming up, we have effectively three short rounds to go before this cursed period. I therefore have three rounds to get back into the top six otherwise I can kiss my top six spot goodbye for this year. The Three Weeks is certain to throw a spanner into the works just like it did last year!! And with each round being only six matches each this will make it that much more difficult to gain the necessary one to two points above the other members of the top ten to ensure me a place in the top six prior to The Three Weeks. If I happen to score all six points the chance are greater that several others will have scored six points, and if I miss even one pick that will potentially cost me more in the context of a six-point round rather than the normal nine-point round.
And well there could not have been a worse match to begin my attempt of my quest!!! Tonight's match is so evenly matched on paper even the bookies are quoting near to even odds with Essendon being the ever slight favorites. But between Essendon and Carlton one can give a perfectly valid argument as to why either of the teams should win. And being a points variance match makes picking the winner even more critical. As evenly matched as it is, the winning margin is not expected to be high, therefore I nominate a low points margin to minimize the calamity if my pick doesn't win. And well since the majority of the sports writers, football personalities, and TV sports commentators are going with the Bombers, as well as being slight favorites on the TAB, well I suppose I had better go with the Bombers - all I can say is they had better win otherwise I will use my magic powers to turn them into Weavils and feed them to the piranhas!! haha!!

Rough Seas Ahead
Here my mid-week non-football musings on dealing with life after Sally.....
In case for those who doesn't read my football musings, both the lunar calendar and astrological patterns predicts rough times ahead. I am referring to the dreaded curse of "The Three Weeks", stemming from the destruction of the two Jewish Temples in our history, the curse of this time affects Jews - which prompts me to ask the question of why does it affect me so much!!! In last years' blogs on this site (all are accessible now for verification of these facts) it is on record that during this Three Weeks last year Sally's sores took a serious turn for the worse, which it turned out was the beginning of the end for Sally. Her frequency of hospital admissions increased since then, her mobility reduced markedly to the point where she could no longer walk out of the living room, and in the last weeks before her death she could not even get up from her chair except for brief times when I changed her sheets and pads on the chair. It was the infections from those sores that ultimately killed her. Just prior to her death Sally had investigated her ancestral data and discovered that on her mother's side she had Jewish blood - Sally was indeed Jewish on mother's side while Lebanese on her father's side. In Israel she would have been accepted as a genuine Jew as is the criteria in Israel - Jewish blood on mother's side deems one to be Jewish, it is not enough to have Jewish blood on the father's side, it must be at least on mother's side. And although Sally didn't believe in the curse of The Three Weeks it quite clearly cost her life!!!! This leads to the question of why The Three Weeks affects me so much, and why it has affected me from long before I met Sally...... that question will be addressed in a later blog. Suffice to say for now, more information on this cursed period of time, which begins 25 June this year in 2013, is found at the link below....
http://http://www.aish.com/h/9av/oal/96779149.html/h/9av/oal/96779149.html
The above link saves me from having to explain this all over again. However as I do every year I will address the common charge taken from the handbook of Shrinks 101 - calamities happens to us because we expect them to happen, known as self fulfilling prophecy. And so as I do each year I present proof positive that this is a false charge!!
It was only around 2005, near the time of my spiritual awakening, first stemming from at least the soul aspects of my Jewish roots, that I first became aware of this phenomenon of The Three Weeks. Prior to 2005 I have had no awareness whatsoever of this phenomenon. I only knew that the Temples were destroyed but I didn't know the exact dates of their destruction nor that they were destroyed on the same day some six centuries apart!!! However there were different points in my life where I kept records of my life, and the most detailed of these records were my North America trip in 1998 from May through to November, therefore The Three Weeks of 1998 occurred during my trip. I have kept virtually a daily record of this trip and it is documented. And by using my Hebrew Lunar Calendar software I can easily correlate between the dates of our Roman calendar (what we all use in the western world) and the Hebrew calendar.
And by such simple correlation matching with my documentations, I have discovered much to my amazement that the infamous car rental fiasco coincided EXACTLY with The Three Weeks. This car rental fiasco where the company charged me three times the quoted prices and omitting vital information resulted in my bankruptcy early in 1999 and the resultant financial problems for many years to come. Indeed it was only in more recent times, coinciding with Sally's increased medical costs, that I was finally able to secure credit once again. So for over 10 years I have been without even a credit card because of this car rental fiasco. And it is on record that I collected the rental car exactly on Tzom Tammuz the first day of The Three Weeks, and spent these next three weeks driving through the USA and into Canada, finally dropping off the car in Chicago just a day prior to Tisha B'Av the end of The Three Weeks, so they would have charged my credit card on Tisha B'Av which essentially sealed my financial fate for the next ten years. I must emphasis I did not plan this, I knew absolutely nothing about The Three Weeks. It was it seems by sheer coincidence that this car rental fiasco happened EXACTLY during The Three Weeks - and I learned from a young age that there is no such creature as "coincidence", it is not found in any biology text book not even on Wikipedia!!!!! So if this doesn't convince you of the genuine phenomenon of The Three Weeks then nothing will!!!
Anyway back to last year's blog, the worst of the calamities occurring during The Three Weeks were of Sally's sores flaring up and taking a nasty turn for the worse, this which ultimately killed her. However various other things happened during this time. My football tipping which has been reasonable up until that time took a turn for the worse sealing my fate for that year - being the first year since mother's death that I failed to win any prizes. Ironically it could happen again this year as currently my football tipping results is that I still have a chance to get into prize money contention. The other fairly major incidences occurred during the last week of The Three Weeks when the council decided to install a footpath down my side of the street, and the delays in the project meant some inconvenience in regards to being able to use my car, delays which ended up costing me more money than I had planned due to the necessity of taking a taxi and waiting longer than expected to pick up Sally's bandages order meaning the taxi meter was ticking away unmercifully while I twiddled my thumbs waiting to be served - normally I don't have to wait so long to be served.
So with The Three Weeks looming on 25 June I wonder what will happen this time! I am afraid to speculate!!
There is another phenomena that will come into play this year during The Three Weeks. I am referring to the planet Mercury's retrograde. This year is one of the rare occasion that Mercury's retrograde, which in itself occurs over a little more than three weeks, actually coincides with The Three Weeks. Mercury's retrograde is due to being 26 June just a day after Tzom Tammuz. I will explain more about this phenomenon the next non-football blog.
Now to my day to day issues. Well it turned out that today would have been Sally's birthday, she would have been just 57. She was certainly not old when she died. Like with mother who died at a relatively young age of 68, Sally was not to live to old age. These days "old age" is referred to over about 75. It was a sad day today as Sally didn't really have a chance to celebrate her birthday in the last few years of her life due to her health issues and the stressful day-to-day issues of her intense care needs. There was simply no time for any celebrations.
Anyway, as usual, the Telstra changeover hit a snag or two. I did received mail from Telstra in my box last Friday but it was that I had forgotten to include a third device that Sally had - a prepaid phone. So they sent me another form and had to fill it out all over again with this 3rd phone - in this instance I decided to cancel it as I already have one cell phone, I don't need another. Now to figure out what to do with her phone, probably just send it in to be recycle as it wouldn't be worth much, she had it for a while and is rather obsolete. But it means I am still without an online phone account, though both my phones, tablet and wi-fi device still works, but without the online account I can't keep track of the data usage on the wi-fi device!!!! It is fortunately a pre-paid device so I won't end up with any rude bill surprises, it is just a matter when my data allocation runs out and I have to pay another $50 to top up the device which usually lasts for about a month!! So it looks like I will have to get onto Telstra over the weekend if I don't hear from them when I go to the mailbox this Friday.
However I think I will start googling for a JP this weekend to try figure out when during the next week I can go see him to get the death certificate copied and certified. This will start my next step of having the banking details changed over, I was hoping to get that done before the start of The Three Weeks. I guess if I hurry and get the ball rolling by the end of next week then it should be done by before The Three Weeks. I will not do anything else until after the end of The Three Weeks, actually until after the end of Mercury's retrograde which is a little after the end of The Three Weeks.
I think that's about it for this week..... nothing more to report on my currently mundane life......

Round 10 - Those piranhas are happy!!!!!
Things are looking grim..... things are looking very grim..... there's the Grimmmmm....... Greyyyyyyyy....... Go............d
Taking a line from one of my vid games whose ultimate goal is to defeat this Grim Grey God, it is proving to be an easier task than predicting what those bloody Weavils will do!! Hot one week cold the next they are so damned hard to predict!! When I pick them they bloody lose, and when I don't pick them they bloody win!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr....... those Weavils have a lot of explaining to do before I slowly feed them to the Piranhas one by one..... grrrrrrr..... I am not a happy camper!!! As always they mess up my tipping and despite my overall score of seven points I drop a place down to 9th, due mainly to the points variance, but also I am now three points from the leader who is on 69. There are two on 69, the next four on 67, then four of us on 66 with someone leap-frogging me due to a lesser points variance!!
And with the cursed "The Three Weeks" coming up it is going to be easier also to beat this Grim Grey God in my vid game than it is to get back into the top six. With the next round being a split round over two weeks, there are indeed only two more rounds before The Three Weeks, and if I am not in the top six by then, it will be the 2nd consecutive year since mother's death that I will be penniless when it comes to handing out the prize monies. Reading last year's blog entries of what happened during The Three Weeks, the record is that I managed to score seven points during each round, but my points variance which had been reasonable up until then suffered a massive blowout, effectively killing any chance of getting into the top six, and so last year became the first year in which I didn't win any prizes, indeed I ended up somewhere in the mid-field in the rankings that year. At this time I still have a chance of getting into the top six being only one point outside, but that is likely to change for the worse once The Three Weeks is upon us. As it is next week will be difficult with the Weavils playing the Saints. The hot/cold Weavils could bloody beat the Saints, but if I pick the Weavils then they'll bloody lose, but I won't go with the newspaper tipsters cos they are all biased for the Weavils, so I will just go with the TAB odds, that is not so biased! LOL!! I pick the team with the shortest odds!!
